Château Fleur Haut Gaussens in Bordeaux has declared its first grand vin – a 2016 cuvée made from equal parts Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec from the producer’s best plots. Fermented for five weeks in 400-litre new French oak barrel, the resulting wine is deep purple in colour, with aromas of pepper, violet and blackcurrant jam. BBR buyer Olivier Barton said « Château Fleur Haut Gaussens crafts boutique wine that are full of personality, quality and consistency with a terroir driven winemaking approach that combines tradition and modernism;. »
